Job Posting: Board President

About Us:

A Touch of Speed® is a non-profit organization dedicated to positively influencing the community’s youth by promoting health and wellness initiatives. The organization provides three programs to engage young individuals: youth track and field, a Kid’s Couch to 5K program, and a six-week track training program.

Position Overview:

We seek a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the President of our Board. The Board President is pivotal in leading the board and working closely with the executive team to set A Touch of Speed® strategic direction. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to contribute to the success and sustainability of our organization. Must complete background check and safe sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommends members for committees and appoints committee chairs
  • Works in connection with the executive director to prepare board meeting agendas
  • Arrange for or take part in new board member orientations
  • Takes the lead on the executive director’s annual performance evaluation
  • Assists in recruiting qualified new board member candidates
  • Serves as the nonprofit’s spokesperson as needed
  • Drive fundraising efforts, including identifying and cultivating potential donors and participating in major gift solicitation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience, preferably in a board or senior executive role.
  • Deep commitment to the mission and values of A Touch of Speed®.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Experience with nonprofit governance, financial oversight, and fundraising.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including board members, staff, and community partners.
  • Understanding of the responsibilities and liabilities associated with board leadership.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend and lead 10-15 board meetings annually (in-person or virtual).
  • Participate in committee meetings and special projects as needed.
  • Engage regularly with the Executive Director/CEO and board members outside of scheduled meetings.

Position Overview:

We seek an experienced and motivated individual to serve as Vice President of our Board. The Vice President will support the Board President in providing leadership and strategic direction for A Touch of Speed®. This role is instrumental in ensuring the board functions effectively and aligns with the organization’s mission. Must complete background check and safe sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Runs board meetings as requested and in the board president’s absence
  • Serves as the nonprofit’s spokesperson as needed
  • Assists with the board president’s duties
  • Support board member recruitment, development, and engagement efforts.
  • Serve as a liaison between the board and committees, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts by supporting donor engagement and cultivation activities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive board culture, mentoring newer members and encouraging participation.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a board or senior management role.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of A Touch of Speed®.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.

We seek an organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as Secretary of our Board. The Board Secretary is crucial in ensuring the board operates smoothly, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential administrative support. This position is critical to supporting the governance of A Touch of Speed® and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Must complete background check and safe sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend all board meetings and keep accurate minutes, ensuring that records are clear, complete, and promptly distributed.
  • Maintain all official board documents, including meeting agendas, minutes, and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with the Board President and Executive Director/CEO to prepare agendas for board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational bylaws, policies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage board correspondence and maintain an up-to-date contact list of board members.
  • Serve as the custodian of the organization’s records, including bylaws, board member terms, and committee charters.
  • Track board attendance, quorum requirements, and member participation in board activities.
  • Support board member onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Board President and other board members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a secretarial, administrative, or governance role is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of A Touch of Speed®.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit governance, including maintaining records and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in using office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and virtual meeting tools.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend 10-15 board meetings annually (in-person or virtual).
  • Commit to additional hours each month to prepare and distribute meeting materials.
  • Be available for occasional special meetings or events.

Position Overview:

We seek a dedicated, skilled individual to serve as our Board’s treasurer. The Board Treasurer oversees A Touch of Speed’s financial health. This role ensures that the organization’s financial resources are managed responsibly, providing transparency and accountability to stakeholders. Must complete background check and safe sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization’s financial management, ensuring sound fiscal policies and practices.
  • Work closely with the finance committee and Executive Director/CEO to develop and monitor the annual budget.
  • Review monthly financial statements and provide reports on the economic status to the board.
  • Ensure accurate and complete financial records are maintained and financial reports are prepared promptly.
  • Monitor cash flow and financial planning to support organizational sustainability.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of financial audits and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.
  • Advise the board on financial strategy, investments, and risk management.
  • Support fundraising efforts by providing financial analysis and insights.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or similar financial certification preferred.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of A Touch of Speed®.
  • Excellent financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, including understanding IRS regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to the board.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with board members, staff, and external stakeholders.
